What type of tropical plants can be used around a swimming pool area in McAllen, Texas? | |
Answers:
1pool area plants require some extra though and planning. you want to look out for anything smooth. branches, foliage, and flowers should not have anything bristly, prickly, sharp or thorny. second, you want plants that are virtually litter free, and any litter they do produce is to large to pass into the pool's filter. i have included a couple of examples of size for reference.
treelike plants: schefflera, fatsia japonica.
shrubs: camellia, feijoa (pineapple guava)
perennials: canna, aspidistra elatior (cast iron plant), dietes (fortnight lily, gazania.
but before you spend alot of money i suggest you contact a local master gardener. they can best advise you on what will give you more bang for your buck since they know of all dos and don't for your home town.
<www.texasmastergardeners.com> they can hook you up with the master gardeners right in your neighborhood. enjoy your pool.
